Introduction

The fact that the suicide of Aaron Swartz sent shockwaves in America and the rest of the world is indisputable. An accomplished programmer, Aaron Swartz had achieved a lot at his age.  That explains the reasons why the news of his death was not received well. It all started with him being accused of breaking and entering for events in the MIT campus. Having been arrested by the local police officers, Aaron was presented to court and charged with various counts of offenses. In the unlikely turn of events, Aaron was found dead by his partner. The programming virtuoso had committed suicide.

            Facts of the Case

For a long time, MIT had not suspected that it was Aaron who was responsible for the downloading of JSTOR data. Instead, the university believed that it was an outsider. The University was concerned that the downloading of several articles could in one way or another thwart the normal functioning of the system (Abelson, Diamond & Grosso, 2013). It was the law enforcement officers who discovered that the main suspect in the case was Aaron. From the case, it is crystal clear that MIT was not in one way or another interested in requesting for a criminal prosecution against Aaron.
