Find a news article (or video) about a current controversial topic, choosing a media outlet from the list published in the content section or of your own choice.

You can also work together: Choose a topic with a partner or as a group,  and let everyone find an article or clip from a different source.  Note: Each person needs to start a separate thread. Copying someone else's ideas constitutes academic dishonesty.

Read the articles critically and look for biases, such as self-centered thinking, group-centered thinking, prejudice, racism, confirmation bias and other obstacles described in the textbook. Are the biases expressed in one or several arguments or in other ways?

Write a summary of the article and give examples of the biases. Compare your findings with the evaluation of your media outlet on www.mediabiasfactcheck.com and to your own bias.

Cite your source as indicated below and add a word count. Your writing assignment should be 600 to 800 words long.

Author, “Title of Article,” Name of Source, Date, page number of the hyperlink (+access date).
