The Letter of Inqury (also known as a Query Letter) will be used to make contact in writing to determine whether or not the granting agency is intersted in having you submit a proposal. A Letter of Inquiry may not always be required. But for the purposes of this assignment, assume that the granting agency requires you to submit a preliminary Letter of Inquiry.
Use the sample Letter of Inquiry on page 184 of your textbook as a model, adapting it to your specific organization and grant. Carefully follow the directions on pp. 182-4 of your book, making sure to clearly state what you are asking for and to attach a dollar amount to your request.
The formatting, aesthetic appearance, grammar and spelling of your letter are very important in this assignment. The Letter of Inquiry will make the initial impression for your entire organization, so pay attention to detail.
Your Letter of Inquiry will be written in two stages. You will begin by writing a draft letter. After completing your draft Letter of Inquiry, you will post the draft on the Discussion Board in the Module Two Peer Review forum. You will then review at least two other student draft letters on the Discussion Board, providing substantive feedback on what you think is done well, and also on factors you feel could be improved. Finally, you will take the feedback you receive from peer review and use it to revise your draft letter into a final version, which you will then submit to me here for grading.
Complete your assignment nd submit your completed Letter of Inquiry in Word or PDF format for grading. Be sure it is the revised version, not the draft version. To submit it, click the title above, which is also an active link, and use the browse button to search for the file. Attach the file, and then click Submit at the bottom of the submission page.
