This is an extended analysis of many aspects of a complex Northern European Renaissance work.
Then choose from a large, complex work of the High Renaissance in Rome (such as the School of Athens by Raphael or the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo) and compare it to a 16th century work from Venice or Northern Europe that you think is just as complex and meaningful.
From Northern Europe, consider Holbein's Ambassadors, Dürer's Fall of Man (Adam and Eve), or Bosch's astonishing Garden of Earthly Delights.) If you think Venice deserves more attention, consider Palladio, Giorgione, or Titian.
Limit yourself to just two objects, one from Renaissance Rome and the other from Venice or Northern Europe, both from Chapter 9. Then, write a response to another student's choices and analysis.
