The analysis produces output that aids in describing or summarizing data in an easy, meaningful manner such as showing the different patterns that exist in the data. Descriptive statistics represent the raw data in a way that is easy to visualize. However, these statistics do not allow the researcher to draw conclusions beyond the analyzed data regardless of the hypothesis formulated. Researchers can identify the measures of variability (standard deviation, range, variance), and measures of central tendency (median, mode, median) through descriptive statistics (Gordon, 2016).
