This assignment will take some digging! Don’t give up. Even if you can’t find the top causes of death, some numbers on CODs should be available, e.g. TB, HIV/AIDS, malaria, cancer.

  1. Select United States and the Region of Ohio
  2. Look for the top causes of death.
  3. If there are terms you don’t understand, look them up.
  4. Be sure to note what year your data refers to!
  5. Download any graphs you find.
  6. Record data. How many total people have died from what illnesses/diseases? Record this information also by sex, ancestry (if appropriate) and age.
  7. Analyze your data. Which causes of death are infectious and which are not? What is the top cause/s of death? Who are the individuals dying from this?
  8. Write a brief (two page) summary of what you have found.
