The founders of Google are Larry Page and Sergey Brin who were PhD. students. They registered the domain Google.com in 1997 and incorporated the company in California in 1998 (Constantinou, 2003). Within five years after the establishment, Google was running more algorithms than any other search engine. By the year 2004, it was estimated that the number of computers it ran to support the worldwide search engine exceeded 1.5 million (Constantinou, 2003). One of its successful products, Gmail, was launched in the same year. The product offered webmail services with an offer of additional free storage. With this product, the company offered stiff competition to its closest competitor’s yahoo and Hotmail who offered significantly less storage. The company saw its greatest t growth and expansion within the first four years of the millennium. It also increased innovations and launched new search services and advertising systems. For the first time, it was publicly traded in 2004. It held Class A shares with a total of 19605052 shares (Constantinou, 2003).
