Gun Laws

Introduction

The topic surrounding gun control has sparked a series of debates across the United States. With different factions supporting that the ownership of firearms should be controlled, others believe that such control would be infringing on their rights to protect themselves. Essentially, the ownership of firearms is regulated in terms of the frequency at which people can buy guns as well as the age at which people can own guns. The use of guns is also limited to permitted situations and only registered guns are to be used. Nonetheless, the rate of crimes involving gun violence has continued to increase in the United States from police violence to school shootings. However, there is an area of gun violence that is highly on the rise. This is with regard to homicides and suicides. The rates of suicides and homicides have been on the rise and have also fallen subject to the gun laws that are present in the respective countries. This paper thus will review empirical research that have been conducted and establish a stand regarding gun laws based on evidence.
