Health Information Technology (HIT) has improved health management by advancing care and treatment of many people. Application of HITs also significantly improves Information management in healthcare. One of the information management systems I learned is the Electronic Health Records (EHR). These are computerized reports of health data such as medical history, vital signs and imaging reports of patients (Ball & Lillis, 2001). They make health information easily accessible by the certified healthcare providers in medical practices and they improve clinical decisions and organized care (Li & Benton, 2006). EHRs can be shared with institutions like pharmacies, schools and labs thus they are important in synchronizing healthcare providers and managing patient data.
