I evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of the existing information system in Georgia Power Company. I also evaluated the significance of switching from the current information system to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The memo explains the primary functions of the ERP system, the type of data stored in the system, the challenges of the old information system and the evidence of the feasibility of the new system. Information Systems (IS) are tools that help administrators to achieve their goals through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ITC). Our managers should use the newly implemented system to perform the daily organizational operations and ensure that the organizations are playing to their best ability. Information systems compute data that is fed into the system to process information that is essential in gaining knowledge about the company and the effectiveness of the present information system. As Robson (2015) posts, communication is a primary part of controlling data obtained from the information systems. Through information systems, the company supervisors and leaders will communicate more effectively, and this will guarantee that subordinates can coordinate their efforts efficiently. Information systems provide the necessary decision making data that is needed to run a company and firms that use information systems are more likely to gain and use data that is authentic and up-to-date.
