Discussion One

The assembly line process is often considered efficient because it’s more automated than the batch process which is largely segmented. However, the batch production process is much more flexible than the assembly-line process due to the following reasons. In the batch process, a factory can produce different sizes of products as specified by the customer (AlGeddawy & ElMaraghy, 2010). Secondly, the batch process can produce different variations and types of products at the same time, unlike the assembly line process which can only do one product in every production. Lastly, batch production allows for the production of customized products, unlike the assembly-line process which is more rigid.
