Process Improvement Project
For this assignment select either your own organization or an organization about which you know enough to review the supply chain processes and identify a process that can be improved in your sphere of influence.
Phase I: Improvement Opportunity
Write 500-750 words on improvement opportunity in your sphere of influence. Address each of the following sections:
Quality Tool Analysis
Identify your problem statement and complete a root-cause analysis. Identify which quality tools you used to identify and vet the problem. Explain the quantitative and qualitative tools you used and provide a summary of how you arrived at your problem.
Stakeholder Analysis
Complete the interactive "Stakeholder Analysis: Winning Support for Your Projects," located on the Mind Tools website. In Step 2, select the “Interactive Screen App” hyperlink. Provide a Power/Interest Grid of your completed chart (using either a picture format or a handwritten document). In addition, provide a summary that includes considerations for all stakeholders. These considerations will form your communication plan in Part II.

Phase I -Requirements and instructions
- Write 500-750 words on improvement opportunity in your sphere of influence or a selected company.
- Quality Tool Analysis
- Identify your general problem
- Complete a root-cause analysis (Use the 5 whys chart or Cause and effect diagram and paste it into the paper- A must)
- Explain the quantitative and qualitative tools (use the actual name of the tool) you used and provide a summary of how you arrived at your problem.
- Include at least one quantitative and one qualitative tool used to verify or vet the problem.
- Complete the problem statement in 1-2 sentences at the end of the section defining:
- What is the specific problem?
- Who does the problem involve or relate to?
- What is the solution?
The problem statement must:
- Be a solvable problem
- Needs to be more specific than the general problem
Stakeholder Analysis
- Complete the interactive "Stakeholder Analysis: Winning Support for Your Projects," located on the Mind Tools website
- Provide a Power/Interest Grid of your completed chart (using a picture format downloaded from mind tools and pasted into the paper – a must).
- In addition, provide a summary that includes considerations for all stakeholders.
- You need to explain the rationale for your placement of stakeholders in the power/interest grid.
One of the issues that might affect your success with this week’s assignment is the selection of the process you want to improve. You need to select a process, not a problem. The “Quality Tool Analysis” forms the basis of the process improvement project. The process you select can be about any process.
You are not expected to collect actual data or have special knowledge or implement this project in real life. The point to the assignment is to learn how to construct a process improvement project.
