Music can be defined as a creative work that involves the organization of tones in a cogent progression to yield a unified and flawless orchestration. Since time immemorial, music has been used to relay vital information, express emotions, motivate people, and depict the societal value. It transcends the barricades of culture, race and nationality. This paper seeks to unravel the effects of music to the human body.
Firstly, the artwork conjures emotions of joy, anger, disgust, and or love. Research shows that the sound of music triggers the human brain to release dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for the enhancement of joy and exhilaration (MacDonald 23). Additionally, it evokes images and intuitions which may not necessarily be explicitly linked to a person’s memory.
