Opus Dei was founded on October 2^nd, 1928 in Madrid, Spain by Jose Maria Escriva. Its significant meaning is Catholics have a mandate to work for God. It is symbolized by a shrine of Torreciudad. Its current number of members is estimated to 85,000.  Opus Dei has spread widely in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and North America.
