Introduction
Trade war have become a buzzword among the Americans thanks to the many trade conflicts that the US is currently entangled in. Broadly defined, a trade war is economic bad blood that exists between two countries and is mostly caused by the imposition of barriers by the two countries. In this reflection paper, I discuss my experience and observations on the current US-China trade war.
US-China Trade War
Context of the war
As noted above, a trade war occasionally emerges when one country imposes economic barriers which affect trade with another country. The receiving country in response to those erected barriers also places its barriers against the first country. This process is often referred to as retaliation. Since the ascendancy of Donald Trump to the Oval Office in 2016, the US and China have been confronted by economic differences that have ultimately affected how both countries relate to each other trade-wise.
