Introduction
Saudi Electric Company is the sole electricity generation and transmission company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company transmits power across the entire country through its 45 power generation plants. Saudi Electric Company (SEC) was established in 2000 as a result of a merger among the electricity companies that existed throughout Saudi Arabia into one large company that covers the entire region. SEC currently produces 60 Gigawatts and plans to increase its capacity to 90 Gigawatts by 2020. This paper examines the vision and mission statements of SEC and determines whether there are any obvious gaps in them, and how these gaps may affect the performance of the company.

SEC strives to be competent and reliable in the delivery of electricity and other services involved in its business. SEC’s vision is to provide its customers and the whole of Saudi Arabia with services that can compete on a global scale.
