The article, “Defense Contracting in Saudi Arabia: Launching Saudi Arabia’s Military Manufacturing Sector under Vision 2030” by John. Balouziyeh   discusses some of the issues faced by military contractors I Saudi Arabia and the significance of Vision 2030 to the ministry of Defense. In Saudi Arabia, the military contractors are exposed to   limited opportunities since their services have been constrained and can only sale weaponries and extra martial equipment to the government. The contractors also provide auxiliary services linked to military tools such as spare parts, maintenance and repair services, mechanical support and training of military personnel. However, the restrictions are currently undergoing a paradigm change following the introduction of Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020 of Saudi Arabia. The two programs aim to nurture a local manufacturing industry of the military products in the country which is set to   benefit the state by enabling it to localize and customize its defense industries that are not restricted to exclusive reduction of military expenditure.
