The Paper should be exactly by the guidelines. I have provided the arguments from the book Taking Sides (Alison Alexander and Jarice Hanson, Fourteenth Edition) as attached files. This paper is very important because it is 50% of my final grade. The deadline is very crucial because I have already asked for an extension and there is no way I can postpone this paper again.
What are the components of this paper?  It is comprised of four general arguments in
support of your position on the issue under debate. Each argument should be supported by two
examples.

You may select two general arguments and as many as four examples from the article
which supports your position in Taking Sides. However, you must select the other two arguments and the four examples from secondary sources -- - i.e. books, the Internet, journal articles, magazines, newspapers, and television. You cannot use hypothetical examples. Examples are not quotations.  At a minimum, your paper must draw its arguments and examples from five different references including Taking Sides. Only two references can be based on Internet sources. You must provide me with a specific reference for each argument and each example taken from secondary sources. I have made this stipulation for two reasons. First, in a course on the media, you need to learn how to obtain information from different types of media. Second, Internet sources, in general, are more unreliable than print sources. Simply put, the Internet is often neither the only source of information nor the best source.

Citation System:

When you use secondary sources for your arguments, you must provide me with a specific reference for each argument and each example taken from secondary sources. You may select the citation system of your choosing (the Modern Language Association, Psychological Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts, etc.). Your citations should include the author(s), the title of the book, journal article, magazine, newspaper, the publisher and, where appropriate, the year and the pages. These references should appear in both the text and your bibliography. The references of sources in the body of your paper must include page numbers.

The position paper accounts for 50 % of your final grade. Your position paper consists of
the following two graded components : 1) interpretation, logic and evidence, 70%; and 2) grammar and syntax, 30%. The first set of criteria takes into account the validity of your four arguments, the logic of your presentation of these arguments and the appropriateness of your evidence. Logic refers to both the overall organization of the paper and the reasoning within each paragraph. Also your paper should indicate which arguments are the most important and which are of secondary significance. Consistent with the requirements of cogent deductive reasoning, your examples must support your general arguments. I will attach some weight to the quality of evidence that you use to substantiate your arguments. Use statistics where appropriate. Cite evidence from well-known studies (books or social science journal articles or both) of the media where appropriate. Examples from articles on the Internet, magazines, or newspapers may be cited. Beware of anecdotal evidence. Your experience or another person’s is often not sufficient to establish the validity of your general arguments which are intended to apply to specific groups or populations- - the main goal of sociological research.

Grammar and Syntax:

Your grammar and syntax grade accounts for 30% of your overall paper grade. There
are six major grammatical errors: 1) sentence fragment; 2) run-on sentence ; 3) misspelling;
4) failure to paraphrase properly, i.e. no citation of a secondary source, especially the omission of the page or the pages where your information is obtained; (The failure to paraphrase correctly is plagiarism. Students who completely ignore this requirement may receive a very low grade on this assignment, C-or lower); 5) failure to use
quotations properly; and 6) failure to use headings.  For each of these major errors, I will deduct 5 points. For every other grammatical error, I will deduct 2 points. Proofread your paper thoroughly. I feel strongly that like any other final product, (i.e., business letter, job letter, honors thesis, etc.), your paper should be almost completely free of grammatical errors and typos. I ignore your first three errors. Then I deduct the appropriate points for each subsequent grammatical error. The lowest possible grammar grade is 77. I permit rewrites. I will give you the rewrite instructions at the appropriate time.

Plagiarism:

Plagiarism as defined in the course syllabus will result in a failing grade on this assignment, and will lower your final grade in the course.
