Introduction

Architectural designs have been modified and evolving as years pass by to match the trends and needs of modern population. However, a look at the most iconic buildings around the United States reveals that; even with renovation projects being carried out once in a while, these buildings still maintain their original architectural design. Among the most common architectural designs are those of Greek and Roman decent, these designs grace most of the significant buildings of the U.S. One such building is the Idaho State Capitol Building completed in the year 1826 and rededicated as the Capitol of Light in the year 2010 after the most recent renovations were completed. This paper will look into the functions and architectural design of the Capitol and compare the design with that of other buildings of similar structure and eventually propose reasons as to why the architectural structure was the most suitable for the building.
