The Theme of Freedom in ‘The Story of an Hour’ and ‘A Doll House’

The early 17th century saw women being infringed on their right to decision making and accountability. Two short stories ‘The Story of an Hour’ by Katie Chopin (Chopin) and ‘A Doll House’ by Henrick Ibsen  narrates the stories of two women stuck in a mud pool of submission and subservient living towards their husbands. ‘The Story of an Hour’ shows the protagonist, Mrs. Mallard exhilarated by the false news of her husband’s death until she dies when she sees him alive.
