Theories used and evidence presented:
They use a historical perspective of looking into different events that occurred in US history. These events inform the racial color bands which divide the American society and account for the unseen divisions which pity one race against the other (Bonilla-Silva). The scholarly works discuss: The origins of these divisions and trace them to the hegemony that the White majority over other races, both economic and political, which can be drawn as far as the 17th and 18th Centuries when slavery was rife in the US (Flores). They also introduce another aspect of the race relations which are not often explored as the racial question has been limited by many scholars and impressed on the people as either between blacks and whites. However, there are other races in between which suffer the afflictions of racial inequality such as the Asians, and Mongolians who are mostly centralized and often ignored (Kim). The bias comes from the perception of two extremes regarding races, with the whites enjoying most of the privileges and the blacks being at the bottom. How education has been used to further social stratification along racial lines.
