HI hope you are well. :D This one only involved 300 words but I put 550 because it involves watching a video. Let me know if this is too much or it will not be a problem if you are too busy.
Thanks :D
Assignment 7 – Writing a Reflection Essay
Chapter 5 of the H&T text talks about many types of sociological essays you may write. For this assignment, I would like you to write a reflection essay. As discussed on Page 126-127, this will be a reflection essay with limited questions. I would like you to WATCH ONE of the following Frontline documentaries, all of which are on different social issues, and write a reflection on what you watched. You may pick from the following films:
- “Documenting Hate: New American Nazis” - https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/documenting-hate-new-american-nazis/
- “Left Behind America” - https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/left-behind-america/
- “Separated: Children at the Border” - https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/separated-children-at-the-border/
Your essay should be a reflection on what the main points are of what you viewed, and how it has an effect on you and what we have been learning about in this class. Be sure to answer the following questions in your essay:
- What are the main points of the film you watched? Give a brief but concise summary of the film. (5 Points)
- Reflection on how this film affects you. How did this make you feel? Has it confirmed or changed how you think about anything or what you believed? (10 Points)
- Relate the film you watched back to key sociological concepts, terms, or theories. Please be sure to bold or highlight the key terms/concepts you are referencing in your response to ensure that I know what you are incorporating course material. (10 Points)
- You must reference at least TWO (2) Key Terms/Concepts/Theories from our course material.
- Be sure to a) explain the key term you are applying, and b) discuss specifically how it relates to the film you provided
You should write this in essay format. There should be three subheadings – SUMMARY, REFLECTION, & CONNECTION TO COURSE MATERIALS
Submission Guidelines:
- Minimum Word Count: 300 words minimum (excluding any title information)
- Double Spaced
- Inclusion of three headings (listed above)
- 12 Point Times New Roman Font; 1 Inch Margins
- Include hyperlinks for any outside sources at the end of your document. This does not count toward the final word count. You are not expected to use outside sources, but you certainly may if you think it will strengthen your essay.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in point deduction
